Lena D. Pacella Demeter, 89

Lena D. Pacella Demeter, 89, formerly of Ellwood City, passed away unexpectedly at the UPMCJameson Health Care Center in New Castle on Saturday, January 26, 2019.
Born on October 28,1929, to the late John and Rose Pacella, Lena married Stephen “Pete” Demeter, Jr. on January 5, 1958. He passed away on January 16, 1988.
Lena worked for many years at the former Folino Pharmacy in Ellwood City, she was a member of Holy Redeemer Parish and the Holy Redeemer Christian Mother’s Guild. She
enjoyed designing intricate embroidery work and creating various arts and crafts. She was also an avid reader.
Most importantly, Lena loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her two granddaughters of whom she was very proud.
She is survived by her two daughters, Diane (Robert) Shaffer of New Castle and Lisa (Patsy) Perrone of Beaver; two granddaughters, Alyssa Perrone of Akron, Ohio, and Sondra Perrone
of Beaver; a sister, Joann (Lefty) DeCarbo of Ellwood City; a sister-In-law-law Edith Pacella of Ellwood City; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ernie and Norma Demeter of Ellwood City; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lena was also preceded in death by a sister, Rita Pacella Bennett, and by three brothers, Frank Pacella, Charles (“Chuck”) Pacella and Arthur B. Pacella.
The family requests donations in memory of Lena be sent to the Ellwood City Area Public Library or the Jameson Health Care Center in New Castle.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-8 pm at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc and Cremation Services. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am at the Holy Redeemer Church. Interment will be at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Members of the Holy Redeemer Christian Mothers are asked to meet at the church on Wednesday by 9:50 am to form an honor guard.
