The world has lost some sparkle after the passing of Anthony J. Santillo, 94, of Ellwood City, on the morning of Saturday, July 21st. He was a wonderful and much loved husband, father, in-law, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his wife of over 60 years, Sylvia (Toth) Santillo, daughters, Linda (Danny) Bartolomeo, Helen (Ron) Walker, and Kathy (Frank) D’Ambrosio. He also is survived by his grandchildren, Jake (Steph) Walker, Bethany (Matt) Mierski, and Brooke Bartolomeo, as well as five great grandchildren, Maggie and Mylah Walker, Levi and Hannah Mierski, and baby girl Walker due in August. He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Ursula, his siblings, Pauline, John, Guy, Emmett, and his infant sister, as well as his grandson, Aaron Bartolomeo. He is also survived by his sister, Annie Trivilino.
Tony graduated from Lincoln High School in 1942 and retired from US Steel in 1976, as well as the B&W in 1984. He was a history buff, especially regarding the Civil War, and visited Gettysburg on numerous occasions. He loved being with his family, walking his dogs, Bandit and Buddy, helping his neighbors by cutting their grass and shoveling snow, and photography. In his younger days, he was an extensive traveler and visited nearly every continental state in the U.S. He also loved classic movies and was an avid reader.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 3:00 pm until 6:30 pm at which time Tony’s grandson, Jake Walker, will share words from the scripture at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services. Interment will be at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
Tony’s family would like to thank Vitas Hospice, Compati Home Health Care (Sara, Ashley, and Felecia) and neighbors, Kathy, Emily, and Kristal for the wonderful care that they extended to him.
