Rose Ann Dunning, 81, of Gregg St., Ellwood City passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Franciscan Manor, Patterson Heights.
Born in Ellwood City on October 29, 1935, Rose Ann was the daughter of the late Frank and Lena DeVite Sulia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R. Dunning on April 30, 2014. They were married on September 3, 1955. Rose Ann retired in 2010 after 41 years of service as secretary to the superintendent in the Ellwood Area School District. She was a member of Holy Redeemer Parish and the Christian Mothers of the Church. She was also a former CCD teacher at Holy Redeemer and also a Eucharistic minister. A 1953 graduate of Lincoln High School, Rose Ann was a member of Municipal Women’s Club and the Professional Business Women’s Association. Rose Ann was also past president and manager of the Ellwood City Girls Softball League.
Rose Ann is survived by her four children, Barbara and Jeff Jinar of Ellwood City, Mary Beth Dunning of Ellwood City, Thomas A. and Anne Dunning of Rochester, NY and Robert M. and Suzanne Dunning of Rolesville, NC, seven grandchildren; Sara and Jason Praster, Lindsay Jinar, Lauren Dunning, Marybeth Dunning, James R. and Codi Dunning, Cory M. Dunning and Marissa Dunning and a great grandchild, Rylan Praster, a sister, Linda Kurmay and sister-in-law Joyce Dunning, both of Florida.
In addition to her parents and husband, Rose Ann was preceded in death by two sisters, her twin, Mary Lou Hudson and Patricia Lucas.
Friends may call at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory on Monday, September 25, 2017 from 2-4 PM and 6-9 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Holy Redeemer Church on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 10 AM by Fr. Mark L. Thomas. Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made in Rose Ann’s name to the donor’s favorite charity.
