Betty L. Wright, 91, of Foch Street, Ellwood City, passed away in her residence on Thursday, September 21, 2017. Born in Wurtemburg on May 28, 1926, Betty was the daughter of the late Leo O. and Caroline Hartzel Fox. She married Raymond C. Wright on her birthday in 1946 and he preceded her in death in 1988. Betty was a former member of the Wurtemburg United Methodist Church. She loved spending her summers fishing and socializing at the family cottage in Henry’s Bend in Oil City. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends, often searching cookbooks for the perfect recipe. After spending their first 57 years in Wurtemburg, Betty and Raymond were sent on an adventure for Raymond’s work to Charlotte, NC where they spent three years and then returned to the Ellwood Area, making their home in Ewing Park.
A loving and devoted wife and mother, Betty is survived by her children Charles W. (Pam) Wright of Ellwood City and Kathy R. Wright (Bruno Lorusso), of New Castle and a cousin Jim (Nancy) Horton of Ellwood City.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Betty was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Charles W. and Nancy Rutter Fox and William L. Fox.
Friends will be received on Saturday, September 23rd from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Wayne R. Hobbes at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport. Interment will take place in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
