Richard E. Rodgers, 71 of State St., Ellport passed away at his residence on Monday, June 26, 2017 following a lengthy illness.
Born in Ellwood City on February 24, 1946, Richard was the son of the late Thomas and Katherine Miller Rodgers. Richard was married to the former Virginia “Ginger” Mazzant on August 2, 1969. He had retired from Koppel Steel where he worked as a crane operator. He previously worked at Matthews Conveyor and B & W. Richard was a member of Holy Redeemer Parish and a 1964 graduate of Lincoln High School. He was also a veteran of the Army serving from 1964 through 1967. During his tour he served in Vietnam. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and golf but mostly spending time with his grandchildren.
Besides his wife Ginger Rodgers, at home, Richard is survived by his 3 children, Janet and Chris Pesce of Ellwood City, Rick and Danielle Rodgers of Neshannock and Bob and Michelle Rodgers of Cranberry Twp., 9 grandchildren, Colton, Courtney and Chelsea Funkhouser, R.J., Kyra, Cross, Ravenna, Pierce and Jace Rodgers and 3 great grandchildren, MacKenna, Chase and Avery Funkhouser.
A Memorial Mass will be offered at Holy Redeemer Church on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 1 PM. The Veteran’s Honor Guard will offer full military rites following the Mass at the Church.
