Gerald T. “Jerry” Yoho, 85 of Hillcrest Dr., Ellwood City passed away at the Haven Convalescent Home in New Castle on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 1:45 PM.
Born in Hookstown, PA on March 8, 1931 Jerry was the son of the late Ross and Garnet Weltner Yoho. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife the former Virginia “Jean” Mettica on October 12, 2009. They were married on January 19, 1957. Jerry had worked at the Ellwood Knitting Mill from 1959 through 1983 as a production manager. He later worked at Lampus Brick Co. in Wampum, Freeman Buick-Pontiac in Ellwood City and retired in 1996 from Thrift Drug. Jerry was a member of Holy Redeemer Parish and an avid NASCAR fan. He enjoyed his time as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and working on cars. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Jerry is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ross and Julie Yoho and Tom Yoho both of Ellwood City, two granddaughters, Jennifer and Eric Hassen and Katelyn Yoho, two great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jacob Hassen, a sister, Beryl Carr of Chester, WV and brother-in-law, Domenic and Brenda Mettica of Wexford, PA.
Friends may call at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport on Sunday, February 5, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Holy Redeemer Church on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 10 AM. Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Sue his nurse and Fr. Glenn Crytzer his chaplan of Three Rivers Hospice and Mark Tanner and his staff at the Haven Convalescent Home for their kindness and care.
