Sarah “Sally” B. Abels, 77, of Harpers Ferry Road, North Sewickley Twp., passed away at Heritage Valley Beaver on Friday, December 30, 2016.
Born in Beaver Falls on April 21, 1939, Sally was the daughter of the late Delbert and Sara Neidlinger Scott. She married Ray Abels on February 20, 1960. Sally and Ray operated and managed three Falcon Stations; Franklin Twp., New Brighton, and on Route 18 in Big Beaver. A member of Holy Redeemer Church, Sally had coffee every morning with her friends at Christy’s Restaurant. She also had her neighborhood lunch group. Sally was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Sally is survived by her husband, Ray, a son, Bill Abels of North Sewickley Twp., a daughter, Denise Conners of Evans City, a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Lorie Abels of Franklin Twp., a daughter, Dianne Rose of North Sewickley Twp., 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, a sister, Doris Reed of White Twp. and a brother, Wilbur Scott of North Sewickley Twp.
In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Joseph Abels in infancy, a brother, Delbert Scott and a sister, Lois Wahl.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, January 2nd from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 97 Grim Ave., Ellport.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 4th at 10:00 AM at Holy Redeemer Church with Fr. Zachary Galiyas. Interment will take place in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
