On December 22, Arlie Russell Miller, 93 went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Arlie was born on June 19, 1923 in Ellwood City to the late Harry W. and Mary Olive Kerr Miller. Arlie was a loving, caring, devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was married for 70 years to the love of his life, Wilda Elizabeth Graham Miller who preceded him in death on July 13, 2016. He loved gardening, bowling and lending a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He worked as owner-operator of Miller’s Garage where he helped many people, a foreman at Matthews Conveyor and in his later years worked at the Butler Auto Auction. He was very active in scouting where he received the Silver Beaver Award and Wood Badge. He was a 1941 graduate of Lincoln High School. He was an active member of Providence Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and loved serving the Lord there.
Arlie was a veteran of the Army serving in the Pacific during WWII where he served in the Airborne Engineers, Aviation Airborne and 5250 Technical Intelligence. He received the Victory Medal WWII, American Theater Ribbon, Asia Pacific Theater Medal, 3 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal and Philippines Ribbon.
He is survived by his four children, Harry (Lee) Miller of Phoenix, AZ, Pamela (Chuck) Wright of Ellwood City, Sharon (Dave) Pound of Chiang Mai, Thailand and Bethany Boshers of Charlotte, NC, nine grandchildren, Suzanne Boshers, Michael (Tina) Miller, Richard (Dawn) Miller, Jay (Heidi) Pound, Matthew (Audrey) Pound, James Boshers, Joshua Boshers, Eric (Tammy) Miller and Shawn Miller, ten great grandchildren and a great great grandchild as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and wife, Arlie is preceded in death by a son, Terry Russell Miller, son-in-law, Al Boshers, grandson, Jonathan Graham Pound, brother, Oscar W. Miller and a sister, Leona M. VanBlacrom.
A Memorial Service to celebrate and honor Arlie’s life will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at noon at the Providence Baptist Church on Chapel Dr, Ellwood City with his Pastor, Calvin Cummings.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Providence Baptist Church.
