Seven recreation projects were recently awarded Community Conservation Partnership Program (C2P2) grants totaling over $1 million according to Senator Elder Vogel Jr. (R-47).
The C2P2 program is administered by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) and includes the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund (Key 93), which includes Key – Community and Key – Land Trust; the Environmental Stewardship Fund (ESF); the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF); Pennsylvania Recreational Trails fund (PRT – federal source); Pennsylvania Heritage Area Program (HA) and; the Snowmobile /ATV (SATV).
Grants announced today in Senator Vogel’s District include:
Beaver County
Potter Township will receive $40,000 to prepare a Master Site Development Plan for the approximately 89-acre Tank Farm/Rocky Bottom Park. Work to include a written, bound report.
Butler County
Zelienople Borough will receive $200,000 for further development of Zelienople Community Park. Work to include construction of a skate park, ADA access, landscaping, project sign, and other related site improvements.
Lawrence County
Bessemer Borough will receive $10,000 towards the implementation of a structured community planning effort that will lead to the rehabilitation of the approximately 18-acre Bessemer Borough Park. Work to include preparation of the site development and construction drawings, construction budget, and bid packet.
Mines & Meadows LLC will receive $101,200 for the purchase of equipment to construct and maintain 75 miles of ATV trails at the Mines and Meadows ATV Park in New Beaver Borough.
New Castle City will receive $250,000 to further develop New Castle Regional Riverwalk Hub. Work to include installation lighting, signage, bus shelter, ADA access, landscaping, project signage, and other related site improvements.
Shenango Township will receive $200,000 to rehabilitate and further develop Shenango Township Community Park. Work to include construction of a pedestrian walkway, renovation of pavilion, ADA access, landscaping, project signage, and other related site improvements.
Union Township will receive $200,000 to rehabilitate and further develop Scotland Meadow Park. Work to include construction of a pedestrian walkway, pavilion, volleyball court; installation of play equipment and required safety surfacing, ADA access, landscaping, project signage, and other related site improvements.
“This is great news for our area,” Senator Vogel said. “This funding will assist with the completion of park and other land and water conservation projects. These are long-term investments in local recreational infrastructure that will generate economic activity and increase opportunities for tourism.”
