Ellwood City-based Red Hot Restaurant, a community staple since 1970, announced Red Hot Blends, a line of seasonings inspired by the restaurant’s flavors.
The current product line includes the signature chili blend, thick-cut chili barbecue, sweet tooth and more.
They are available at Dave’s Hometown Shop ‘n Save and the 7-Eleven in Ellwood City, The Meat Guyz in Union Township and Milk House Meats in Beaver Falls. More locations will be announced in the future.
Owner Niki Katsadas said the product line was thought of by her father and founder, John Katsadas.
“My dad asked me to do this just to see how it would go. I honestly didn’t know what to expect,” Katsadas said. “What surprised me most wasn’t selling seasoning — it was hearing the beautiful stories people shared about the restaurant. They remembered birthdays, stopping in after football games, grabbing lunch after work, and coming in with their parents and grandparents. They remembered pieces of their own lives.”
Katsadas is currently writing her first cookbook, “The Chili Restaurant: Recipes and Stories from an American Tradition,” which explores the history of America’s chili restaurants, the immigrant families who helped shape them and the stories behind one of the country’s most beloved comfort foods.
