Ruth Mae Hardy, 92, of New Beaver Borough passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born October 28, 1933 in Middlebourne, WV, she was the daughter of the late Harold Harmon and Ethel Mae Eddy Reed. She married Edwin W. “Bud” Hardy on May 15, 1954. They shared 63 years of marriage until his passing on April 29, 2018.
Ruth was instrumental in the creation and worked as the secretary treasurer for the family business, Hardy Trucking. She was an active member of Clinton United Methodist Church serving as treasurer, piano player, and as a teacher for Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. For over 30 years, she and several friends conducted singing and worship services on Monday nights at Haven Nursing Home. An entertainer, she enjoyed singing and playing many instruments. Her most cherished time was spent with family.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara A. (Rick) Majors and Linda S. (Bryan) Lutz; two sons, David W. (Donna) Hardy and Kenneth R. (Robin) Hardy all of New Beaver; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nancy Fuller of High Point, NC and Sandra (Bill) Ward of Weirton, WV, and many nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Friends and family will be received on Wednesday July 8, 2026 from 4 to 7 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 341 Main Street Wampum.
A memorial service will be held at the Clinton United Methodist Church on Sunday July 12, 2026 at 1 pm with Retired Pastor Dave Keppen officiating. Interment will take place in Clinton Cemetery.
