Every summer, Ewing Park transforms into the heart of Ellwood City as thousands gather for one of the region’s most cherished traditions—the Ellwood City Arts, Crafts, Food & Entertainment Festival.
Now entering its 44th year, the festival continues to showcase the creativity, talent, and community spirit that have defined Ellwood City for generations. Scheduled for July 3-5, 2026, the three-day event brings together artisans, crafters, food vendors, entertainers, musicians, community organizations, and families for a celebration that has become synonymous with the Fourth of July holiday weekend. The marquee highlight of the Festival has always been the finale … the fireworks, which is a major part of the budget.
The festival features continuous live entertainment, arts and crafts vendors, delicious food offerings, family-friendly attractions, special events, and the patriotic traditions that residents and visitors have come to expect each year. Held in the beautiful setting of Ewing Park, the festival offers something for every age and interest while serving as a showcase for the community’s vibrant culture and welcoming spirit.
What many festival-goers may not realize, however, is that events of this scale do not happen automatically. Behind every stage performance, vendor booth, family activity, and festival attraction are countless volunteer hours and significant financial commitments.
According to Bonnie Balin, Chairwoman of the Festival Committee, the beloved event is in dire need of donations.
“We are completely non-profit,” she said. “And the Festival has been struggling over the last decade to stay up and running.”
Balin said the festival is not funded by the borough rather by local businesses, sponsors, donors, and community members to remain viable. While attendance is critical to the festival’s success, financial support is equally important. Sponsorships, donations, and business partnerships help offset the costs of entertainment, infrastructure, insurance, equipment, logistics, marketing, and the many behind-the-scenes expenses necessary to produce a high-quality event.
Balin said the Festival is in need of immediate help for 2026 as the committee works to put fundraisers in place for the upcoming year.
Without this financial backing from the community, the festival would face increasing challenges in maintaining the level of programming and attractions visitors have come to enjoy.

The importance of supporting the festival extends beyond a single weekend in July. It also provides valuable opportunities for artists, craftspeople, food vendors, entertainers, and nonprofit organizations to connect with thousands of potential customers and supporters. It creates memories for families, strengthens community bonds, and helps preserve a tradition that has become an important part of Ellwood City’s identity. When local businesses invest in the festival through sponsorships, they are investing in the vitality and visibility of the entire community.
Community support can take many forms. Attending the festival, purchasing from vendors, participating in activities, volunteering, and supporting festival fundraisers all contribute to its success. Local businesses can play an especially important role through sponsorships and financial contributions that help ensure the festival remains strong for future generations. Every dollar invested and every person who attends sends a message that this tradition matters and deserves to continue. Festivals across the country have faced increasing financial pressures in recent years, making community support more important than ever.
“Without the community support, the festival would not happen,” said Bonnie Balin, chairwoman of the Festival Committee.
The future of the Ellwood City Arts, Crafts, Food & Entertainment Festival ultimately rests in the hands of the community it serves. The festival has survived and thrived for more than four decades because residents, businesses, volunteers, and sponsors recognized its value and stepped forward to support it.
As another exciting festival season approaches, Balin hopes the community will renew that commitment. Whether through sponsorship, donations, volunteerism, or simply showing up to enjoy the festivities, every contribution helps ensure that future generations will experience the same sense of pride, celebration, and community spirit that has made the festival a beloved Ellwood City tradition for 44 years.
