An Ellwood City Police Officer is taking personal days following an incident at the Ellwood City Sheetz on Friday, June 6.
In a video that has seemingly gone “viral” on Facebook, YouTube, and Reddit, borough police Sgt. Robert Magnifico is shown pushing an unidentified person, who was yelling at Magnifico. A bystander was filming the altercation.
Magnifico, during the 39-second video, can be heard yelling, “Understand this, son. I’m not going to put up with your s***. Understand who you’re talking to. I’m not going to put up with your crap. I told you to quit yelling and screaming. You’re not allowed here. Leave.”
Mayor Anthony Court, who is also the head of the police department said Monday evening following the Borough Council Committee Meeting that the Mayor’s Office along with the Ellwood City Police Department are well aware of the situation that occurred.
Court said, “I am taking the situation very seriously and continuing to gather all the information that’s possible as I cover all angles of this investigation. It’s an ongoing investigation and falls under a personnel matter within the borough. More information will be coming soon as the investigation continues.”
Borough Council was holding an executive session following Monday night’s Committee Meeting.
The officer involved has over thirty years of flawless service. He’s coached football for Ellwood City and Riverside. Clearly he has the ability to show tolerance, patience, and understanding. I believe the video shows only one side of the entire story as to what truly transpired. I also believe that actions were justified, given the entirety of the story. What I do find absolutely appalling is how fast Mayor Court threw the officer under the bus during TV news interviews. You won’t find a better person and policeman than Rob Magnifico. It would be truly unfortunate if the Mayor’s kneejerk, CYA, actions costs Ellwood a great employee.
It’s called the First Amendment. You can Literally say just about anything to a cop as long as it isn’t a threat or incitement of violence. He deserves to be sued and stripped of his badge.
I’m not from anywhere near there but all my family is fron and still lives there this isn’t a one off thing with this officer he escalated the situation immediately heaven forbid someone questions his authority and he has no business coaching kids in any sport
This is nothing new. I dealt with an abusive EC police “officer”. Call Mayor Tony to complain. Nothing done. EC police have problems, that’s for sure!

The commenter who is in love with the hopefully soon to be former officer should campaign to help him find a new job and pension since he is so perfect in that commenters eyes. He could probably use some help.
I’m willing t bet this police officer is nothing but a coward who was more than likely either bullied in school or a bully. Considering the fact that it’s 2025 and this officer does not wear a body cam tells me all I need to know. Meaning, the department is waiting on this dirt bag and others like him to retire before they make body cams a requirement. According to John from the Civil Rights Lawyers YouTube channel, officer Pathetico I mean MinnyPeeno, dang it I meant Magnefico probably has countless videos out there of him VIOLATING PEOPLE’S RIGHTS.John did a small search and was able to find multiple security camera videos of Officer MegaStupido violating individuals rights or bragging about slow rolling to domestic abuse calls so that the people involved have enough time to really beat the shit out of each other so he can arrest both parties. I wonder just how many women have had teeth knocked out and bones broken or maybe even have been killed after this coward slow rolled up to the encounter. Yes the cop said he slow rolled so he could arrest both people I think he slowed rolled because he knew that domestic cases are dangerous and this cowards only goal in life is not becoming and was going home each night. Also laughing all the way to the bank Considering he’s probably paid $180k a year.
Dirt bag but cop won’t have to do anything more made to retire with his full retirement plan and now this is out they’ll be 20 plus years of his arrest will be petitioning the court for a new trial sighting police brutality and threats is why they are in jail

This officer has several other incidents on video – he admitted to taking his time getting to DV calls so that the victims would be more beaten up, and he arrested and tased a guy who yelled at him over a parking ticket. Do you REALLY want this fool on the streets?
It’s very clear from the video that this wasn’t a good cop having a bad day, this was a bad cop doing what he’s been allowed to do for decades. Check the video of him from 2017 using excessive force and use of taser on someone for just using profanity and criticizing this cop. I’ve seen two videos now of this officer completely ignoring the constitution and retaliating against individuals exercising their constitutional rights. He’s also caught on audio saying he intentionally takes his time in responding to domestic violence calls in hopes that the people beat each other up before he gets there so he doesn’t have to exert as much energy. Argue you all you want but facts don’t lie. The civil rights lawyer on YouTube covered all 3 incidents perfectly, and I’m so sure that there’s more out there we’ll see soon. Don’t take my word for it , the video should be easy to find as it’s already at over 515,000 views after only being up for -19 hours. Call riverside high, call the school council, call the superintendent, the principal and demand that they fire this loose cannon or it sends a message to the kids that you can abuse power and ignore the constitution and still prosper, still influence young minds, and foster a future where citizens fear cops instead of feeling they can rely on them and feel safe in their presence like we were told we should as children.
Why was this thug not arrested, why didn’t the other cop intercede and stop the horrible individual from assaulting that young man. The perpetual, magnificent should be in jail, and the other cop should be demoted back to academy, and shame on the governance of Elwood city. This bad tyrant had already been investigated for unnecessary roughness before. Sorry, unnecessary roughnes for cops is felony assault for the citizenry they swore to serve and protect. His partner wouldn’t just stand by and let the citizenry violently push his partner to the ground, why does he think cops should be able to do this? For the mayor/head of police to just give them both a slap on the wrist is blatantly ubsurd.the whole police force needs shut down and disbanded. Now the thug will still collect his retirement or just move along to another community to terrorize them. Wh6 oh why do the people not like or trust their police?
