Sally Irene (Kahn) Stephens, 85

Mrs. Sally Irene (Kahn) Stephens, 85, of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 30th, 2025 at Northview Estates.

Sally was born on February 7th, 1939 to the late Eugene and Marie (Duff) Kahn and grew up in the Laurel Gardens of the North Hills of Pittsburgh.

She graduated from the St. Benedicts Academy in Pittsburgh. And then worked as a legal secretary for many Pittsburgh attorneys, retiring from the job she loved the most, working for Attorney Timothy O’Brien. She was a member of the former St. Agatha Catholic Church and presently is a member of the Divine Grace Parish, Holy Redeemer Church. She had a great love for music and enjoyed playing the piano, gardening, and reading, and was a regular at the Ellwood City Public Library. Sally was also a legendary pie maker, and a longtime volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by her sons, Thomas Swisher and his fiancé Kimberly DePoy of North Port, FL, John (Juliana) Swisher of Ellwood City, and Michael (Tina) Swisher of Germany, grandchildren, Jennifer Swisher (Travis Patterson), Sean Swisher, Olivia Swisher (Phil Caridi), and John L. Swisher, her sister, Betts (James) Schwartz of Philadelphia, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 51 years John H. Stephens, sisters, Joyce Miller and Kathy Stept, and her brother, Gene Kahn.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6th, 2025 from 5-7 pm at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc.. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, February 7th, 2025 at 10:00 am at the Divine Grace Parish, Holy Redeemer Church with Father Dan Kushner officiating. Entombment will follow at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery Mausoleum.

Sally’s family would like to thank all the staff of the Special Care Unit especially Audry, Evon, and Michael at Northview Estates for the wonderful care and compassion they gave Sally and to Rick and Billie Joe at Gentiva Hospice for all their care and guidance.
