Joan I. (Pratt) Docchio, 89

Mrs. Joan I. (Pratt) Docchio, 89, of Ellwood City passed away on Monday, January 27th, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her loving family

Mrs. Docchio was born in Ellwood City on March 5th, 1935 to the late Joseph and Anna (Canavine) Pratt. She graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1953 and later from the New Castle Business School. A devout Catholic, Joan was a member of the former Queen of Heaven Church in Koppel where she served as a eucharistic minister, sang in the church choir, and taught the 2nd grade CCD class. Presently she is a member of Divine Grace Parish, Holy Redeemer Church, and the Holy Redeemer Christian Mothers. She was an avid reader averaging two books a week, loved to travel and play bingo, and was an amazing cook and baker.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia and Michael Podbielski of Big Beaver Boro and Lynn and Greg Leavens of Wayne Township, son, Michael Docchio of Ellwood City, and was an amazing “Mimi” to her grandchildren, Linsay (Tim) Sukits, Matthew (Amber) Leavens, Andrew (Lilian) Leavens, Quinn Docchio, Kyle Docchio, and Lydia Podbielski, and her great-grandchildren, Xander, Benjamin, Alex, Ellis, Zachary, Rylee, Felicity, Finnigan, and one on the way. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Ernest Sabella of Monaca, and several nieces and nephews.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jerome M. Docchio whom she married on June 20th, 1959 and passed away on March 6th, 2015, and her brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Rosaline Pratt.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 9:00 – 11:30 am at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. followed by a mass of Christian burial at Divine Grace Parish, Holy Redeemer Church at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at the Grandview Cemetery in Beaver Falls. Members of the Holy Redeemer Christian Mothers are asked to meet at the church on Thursday by 11:50 am to form an honor guard.
