Mrs. Dona G. Garvin, 89, of Ellwood City passed away on January 22, 2025 at Northview Estates.
Dona was born on November 14th, 1935 in Beaver Falls, to the late Gale and Cora (Winters) Harris. She graduated from Beaver Falls High School. Dona worked at McDanel Refractory in Beaver Falls, Gaylords and Jamesway Department Stores, and lastly, retired as the Matriarch of the family business, Pete’s Uptown Beer and Beverage where she worked from 1983 until 2008. She was a member of the New Brighton Methodist Church, and was a loyal blood donor to the American Red Cross.
She is survived by her son, Mark (Lori) Garvin of Ellwood City, granddaughters, Dr. Lacey Garvin and her fiance Zachary Etzler, and Dr. Lexus Garvin and her fiance Christopher Clarke, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley F. “Pete” Garvin, whom she married in June of 1958 and passed away on September 8th, 2002, sisters, Wilma “Susie” Harris-Walter and Leah Harris-McConaughy, and her brothers, Glenn, Gary “Whitey”, and Keith “Red” Harris.
As per Dona’s wishes there will be no service. Inurnment will be at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc.
Memorial donation in Dona’s name may be made out to the American Red Cross or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
