Mrs. Leona M. Puz, 96, of North Sewickley Township, passed away on Tuesday, January 7th, 2025 at her residence.
Mrs. Puz was born on April 30th, 1928 in Ellwood City to the late Leo and Michalean (Olzak) Franus. She graduated from the Lincoln High School with the class on 1946 and from Comptometer School in Youngstown, Ohio. She worked for the Ellwood City Knitting Mill, Ellwood City Water Company, and U.S Steel National Tube Mill. Mrs. Puz was an avid reader, who enjoyed playing the organ and dancing to Slovenian music. She was also known for being an incredible listener to whom ever needed it, she will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her sons, Mark Puz, of Richmond, VA, and Michael Puz of North Sewickley Township, nieces, Cheryl (Tony) Giorgi, Linda Porter, Karla Paltor, and Marsha Lloyd, and 2 great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William J.Puz, whom she married on September 17th, 1949 and passed away on February 4th, 2013, and her sister, Dorothy Jean Porter.
A mass of Christian burial will take place on Friday, January 10th, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Grace Parish, Holy Redeemer Church. Interment will follow at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc..
Memorial contributions in Mrs. Puz’s name may be made to the Ellwood City Area Public Library or the Holy Redeemer Angel Fund.
Mrs. Puz’s Family would like to extend a special thank-you to the Concordia visiting nurses and to Good Samaritan Hospice, staff and nurses for the care that they provided to her.
