Keller Qualifies For PIAA Championships, Wolverines Eye WPIAL Team Semifinals

Jordan Keller competed in the WPIAL Class 2A Golf Finals Wednesday at Sewickley Heights Country Club, qualifying for the PIAA Championships with a two-day total of 160 (+16), good enough for T-15 overall among the 38 golfers.

Keller became just the 2nd Ellwood City golfer in the last 30 year to qualify for the PIAA Golf Championships in State College. Keller advanced to the championships after his performance last week.

On Wednesday, Keller fired a round of 82 (40-42, +10) and collected his lone birdie on a Par 4 third hole. The junior golfer also posted 12 pars on the scorecard. McGuffey senior Logan Crowe led wire-to-wire in Class 2A to bring home the individual title with a final round 75.

The top 18 finishers in Class 2A qualified for the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Boys’ Golf Individual Championships, which will be held on Oct. 21-22 at Penn State Golf Courses.

Keller, along with teammates Nate Kennedy, Braden Roberts, Andy Lin, Jaxon Rozanski and Gino Biondi will next compete Tuesday in the WPIAL Team Semifinals at Pleasant Valley GC in Connellsville PA.

Ellwood City (15-0, 12-0) in Section V) is among six outright section champions, and the only unbeaten section champion, who will participate in WPIAL Team Championships.

The semifinals champion will move onto the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Boys’ Golf Team Championships, which will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at Penn State Golf Courses.

Last year, Belle Vernon – who will be competing for the Class 3A crown this year – won Class 2A in 2023 with a score of 417 (+57), five strokes better than runner-up Neshannock.
