Mrs. Emma (Sainato) Mittica, 84, of Koppel passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 25th, 2024 in her home surrounded b y her loving family.
Daughter of the Late Francesco and Maria (Pace) Sainato, she was born on March 3rd, 1940 in Condoianni, Italy and came to the United States in 1958. Just 18 years old she met her loving husband, Domenico, only a few months after arriving and marring the love of her life on October 10th, 1959.
Emma was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She took pride in cooking every Sunday and every holiday and having her family over to enjoy all her homemade meals. Christmas Eve was always a feast to be remembered by many! She was an amazing cook, baker and had a garden like no other. She made hundreds of jars of sauce every year as well as canning peppers, making her homemade sausage, soppresata, capicola and prosciutto. Emma made the most amazing meals and she had a revolving door at her home where everyone was welcome and no one ever left hungry or empty handed.
She will be greatly missed by many, she was like no other, feisty and funny! She left a mark on every one she met.
Emma is survived by her husband of 65 years, Domenico, son, Anthony (Patty) Mittica, of New Brighton, daughter Sandi (Tom) D’Amico of Chippewa, grandchildren Joe (Ashley) Mittica, Tony Mittica, Bella D’Amico and her twin great-granddaughters, Gianna and Gabriella Mittica, longtime dearest friend and neighbor Roxann Esoldo who was a true blessing to her, brother Bruno Sainato, sister Connie (Dave) Brooks, and sister-in-law Carmella Ursino.
She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son Domenic and sister Antonetta Iannollo.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 29th, 2024 from 3-7 pm and on Thursday, May 30th from 10:00 am until the time of Blessing Service at 11:00 am at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. with Deacon Don Pepe officiating. Entombment will follow at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Holy Redeemer Mausoleum.
