Gregory D. LaCava, 71

Mr. Gregory D. LaCava, 71, of Ellwood City passed away on Tuesday, May 14th, 2024 at the Heritage Valley Medical Center.

Greg was born the son of the late Joseph H. and Virginia Y. (Hazen) LaCava in Ellwood City on March 11th, 1953. He is a member of the Lincoln High School class of 1971 and attended the Community College of Beaver County. He earned an Associates Degree in machinist from the New Castle School of Trades. Greg worked at the Babcock & Wilcox Steel Mill in Beaver Falls, Vesuvios in Zelienople, High Tech in Cranberry Twp., and retired from Nalco in 2018. Greg is a longtime member of the Sons of Italy #608 in Ellwood City. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, gardening, yardwork, cooking, and time spent with his family and friends. He also was an avid fan of all the Pittsburgh sports teams.

He is survived by his wife of almost 47 years Norina J. (Carsele) LaCava whom he married on June 11th, 1977, grandsons Matthew and Chance Marsano, sister Karen Lunn of Cary, NC, sisters and brothers-in-law Frances and Randall Boariu, Valarie and John McCoanahy, and Rocky and Lisa Carsele. Greg is also survived by his nieces and nephews whom he had a special bound with; Adam Cohen, Tony (Jenny) Joseph, Rocky (Christin) Carsele, Greg (Michelle) Lunn, Christopher (Liz) Lunn, Travis (Bethany) Boariu, Steven (Amanda) Boariu, John McCoanahy, and Dr. Alissa Cohen who lovingly assisted with his care, and great-nieces and nephews Neissa Carsele, Luca Carsele, Gino Joseph, Anthony Joseph, Robin Boariu, and Austin Laine Cohen, and his special uncle Bob LaCava.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Erica D. LaCava in 2022, and his sister Elaine Cohen.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 11:00 am until the time of the Blessing Service at 1:00 pm at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. with Deacon Don Pepe officiating. Interment will follow at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
