Fornataro Blasts Two Homeruns, Riverside Beats Quaker Valley

Panther slugger Bo Fornataro connected on two homeruns Monday afternoon as Riverside easily dismissed Quaker Valley 11-0 to stay unbeaten on its season.

Fornataro blasted a three run homer as part of a Panthers seven run second inning outburst and swatted his second homerun just one inning later when Riverside added four more runs.

After a scoreless first inning, the unbeaten Panthers erupted with seven runs aided by the Fornataro bomb and a three-run double by Ashton Schlosser. Darren McDade and Sean Hayes each collected RBIs in the frame for Riverside.

In the third, Hunter Garvin followed up a 2-out Fornataro blast with his own homerun.

Zach Hare earned the win for Riverside, surrendering only two hits over four shutout innings. He walked nine and did not walk a batter. Garvin threw one inning of relief for Riverside in the five-inning mercy rule victory.

Riverside (8-0 Overall) will next travel to Quaker Valley on Tuesday to wrap up its home-and-home series with the Quakers.

LADY PANTHERS FALL TO SHENANGO 3-1

The Riverside softball team fell at home Monday afternoon to Shenango 3-1.

The Lady Panthers were limited to only two hits in the contest by Wildcats pitching.

Riverside scratched out its lone run in the seventh inning in a rally attempt but after a single and two errors plated the Panthers run, the visiting Wildcats shut the door.

Danny Rosenberger and Charlie Bissell collected hits for the Panthers. Ayla Sterner allowed only one earned run and five hits over six innings in the circle for Riverside.

Riverside (5-5 Overall) will next host rival Ellwood City on Thursday with a first pitch scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
