Riverside Baseball, Softball Teams Each Collect Victories

The Riverside baseball and softball made quick work of opponents on Wednesday, each earning mercy-rule victories.

The Panthers baseball team took to the road and shut-out Beaver Falls 16-0 in four innings.

Hunter Garvin smashed a three-run homerun as part of a six run offensive onslaught in the second inning.

Ashton Schlosser earned the win for Riverside on the mound. The southpaw allowed only one hit across his three innings of shutout baseball. He struck out three and walked only one Tiger before giving way to Bo Fornataro who tossed one inning of no-hit relief for the Panthers.

Nine Panthers collected hits on the afternoon with Schlosser and Zach Hare each swatting doubles offensively. Schlosser finished with two RBIs and Hare scored two runs for Riverside.

Riverside (6-0 Overall) will meet Beaver Falls again on Thursday, this time at home, for the second game of a home-and-home series with the winless Tigers.

The Riverside softball team defeated Freedom Area 13-3 in five innings Wednesday afternoon at home.

After surrendering the first run of the contest, the Panthers responded for four first inning runs powered by a two-run home run by Grace Maltarski. Riverside scored runs in each of the five innings of the mercy rule victory.

Charlie Bissell provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading Riverside with four RBIs on the afternoon. Maltarski, Bissell, and Mia Williams each collected two hits for the Panthers. Macy Greer stole two bases.

Ayla Sterner surrender only one hit and two earned runs in the pitching circle for the Panthers. She struck out seven Bulldogs and walked five.

Riverside (3-3 Overall) will next travel to Neshannock for their next game on Thursday.
