Barbara J. Chappell Barr, 90

Barbara J. Chappell Barr, 90, a lifelong resident of Chewton, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 30, 2024.

Born May 4, 1933 in Wampum, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Margaret E. Gillespie Davis. She married Larry Barr on September 13, 1975.

Barbara was a lifelong member of the Chewton Christian Church where she served as a deaconess and Sunday School Teacher for many years. She was one of the founders and a lifelong member of the Ladies Auxiliary Chewton Fire Department. Throughout the years, Barbara served as a Girl Scout Leader for the Wampum/Chewton Area. For several years she worked at Calgon in Ellwood City in the lab.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Larry; four daughters, Carol Lechner, Donna (John) Kozol, Gayle Zeigler, and Patti (RB) Perry and son, Bruce (Barb) Chappell. She was the proud grandma of 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She also had three stepchildren; Wally (Dori) Barr, Lisa (Mike) Gasper, and Gary (Keri) Barr.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Donald M. Chappell in 1965 and her son Tom Chappell in 2020. The last of her family, Barbara was the youngest of 10 brothers and sisters who all preceded her in death.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday April 4, 2024 from 1:00 pm until the Funeral Service at 4:00 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 341 Main Street Wampum. Pastor Tom Litzenberg will conduct the service.

Interment will follow in Slippery Rock Church Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Chewton Christian Church or to the Ladies Auxiliary Chewton Fire Department.

Thank you for who you were and the legacy you have left for us. Not a day will go by that we won’t carry you in our hearts and minds. We all love you soooo much.
