Betty Jean Schliffka, 96, formerly of Fombell, passed away at Avalon Place in New Castle on Saturday, March 16, 2024.
Born in Frisco (Franklin Township) on March 19, 1927, Betty was the daughter of the late John W. and Edna Pearl Kriner Nelle. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Schliffka, Jr. on May 24, 2011. They were married on May 24, 1947. Betty was a graduate of the Lincoln High School Class of 1945. She was a member of the Ellwood City Art Club. Betty enjoyed painting, crocheting, doing puzzles and even taught herself to play the organ but mostly enjoyed the time she spent with her family.
Surviving are her 3 children, Shelia Gay (Charles) Stanton of Ellwood City, Lorna D. Henry of Homer City, PA and Darrell B. (Kathy) Schliffka of Ellwood City, a daughter-in-law, Linda Schliffka of New Castle, 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her son, David Schliffka, 2 sisters, Wilma G. Nelle and Christina V. Donley, 2 brothers, William G. Nelle and John W. Nelle, Jr., a son-in-law, Terrance L. Henry and a great grandson.
Friends may call at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport on Sunday, March 24, 2024 from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 PM.
A Funeral Service will be offered at the Funeral Home on Monday, March 25, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. by Rev. Dan Hurray. Interment will follow in Mountville Church Cemetery.
