Catherine T. Shuttleworth, 89

Catherine Theresa (Klemenz) Shuttleworth, 89, of Wampum died on Sunday February 11, 2024 at home surrounded by many family members.

Catherine was born in Philadelphia on October 10, 1934, the daughter of the late Kathryn and Joseph Klemenz.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 65 years, William (Bill) Shuttleworth on December 17, 2020, a son-in-law, William J Fleck and a daughter-in-law, Regina Santamaria Shuttleworth.

Catherine and Bill married on October 22, 1955, at St. Mathew Catholic Church in Philadelphia. After his death, she spoke to him every day and longed for the time when God would see fit to bring them back together.
Catherine was a deeply spiritual woman. She attended Church regularly and when able, always knelt beside her bed at night to say her prayers.

She loved being a mother to her 7 children. William J Shuttleworth of Sarasota, FL, Kathleen A (John) Pansera, Joseph E (Kandy) Shuttleworth, Jeanne M (Charles) Shebanie, Susan L Fleck, Debra A (Carmen) Evans-Mazzant and Anne M (Jon) Disher, all residing in the Ellwood City Area.

There is nothing she enjoyed more than when her family got together to tell stories, play games (especially cards), crossword and jigsaw puzzles, watch football, and just laugh and “carry on”. She loved to go camping and especially sitting around a bonfire.

She was an awesome grandmother to 18 grandchildren, Edward G (Maureen) Hiser, Christine N Shuttleworth, Lynn N (Ben) Kristophel, William J Shuttleworth, Joseph E Hiser, Michael J (Jamie) Shuttleworth, Frank J (Lisa) Pope, Andrew S (Renee) Hiser, Jennifer L (Josh) DeStefano, Kathryn A Hiser, Joseph T Shuttleworth, Debrah L (Garrett) Boots, William S (Kaley) Evans, John E Evans, John J Fleck, JT (Alisa) Baldelli, Maria C Fleck, and Matthew J Fleck. She was a wonderful “Grandma”, “Honey-Honey”, “Gray-Gray”, and “GG” to her Grandchildren, 18 Great-Grandchildren (+2 on the way), 7 Step-Grandchildren and 10 (+1 on the way) Step-Great-Grandchildren.

In addition to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Catherine is survived by a brother, Nick and Nancy Klemenz of Philadelphia, a sister, Kathleen (Robert) Bunting of Philadelphia, PA, and many nieces and nephews.

She was a member of Divine Grace (Holy Redeemer) Catholic Church of Ellwood City, PA and served as a member of Christian Mothers.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday February 15, 2024 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Marshall Funeral Home, 341 Main Street, Wampum, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Holy Redeemer Church in Ellwood City on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 10:00am. Father Joseph Freedy will officiate.
