Mrs. Geri L. Mantz, 79, of Ellwood City passed away on Sunday, November 19th, 2023 at the UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Twp..
Mrs. Mantz was born on March 11th, 1944 in Alliance, Ohio to the late Maxine (Diehl) Molnar. She had graduated from Mars High School with the class of 1962. Geri started her working career as a stewardess with Eastern Airlines. After moving to Ellwood City she worked at Helen’s Dress Shop, Newman’s Pharmacy, and most recently at Kimpel’s Jewelers. She is a member of the Divine Grace Parish, Holy Redeemer Church and the Holy Redeemer Christian Mothers. Geri also is a long time member of the Municipal Women’s Club. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, watching movies, rooting for Notre Dame, and most of all watching her grandsons play sports.
She is survived by her daughters Kimberly (Robert) Gibbons and Christine Mantz (Anthony “Munzy” Morini both of Ellwood City, son Carl R. (Carla) Mantz II of Robinson Twp., grandsons Logan and Ryan Gibbons, and her sister Susan Thompson of Cincinnati, Ohio. Geri is also survived by her sisters-in-law Helen Mantz of Ellwood City and Joan Clark of Tennessee, and many nieces and nephews.
Geri was preceded in death by her mother, step-father Steve Molnar, husband Carl “Rizzo” R. Mantz whom she married on June 18th, 1966 and passed away on May 11th, 1996, father and mother-in-law James and Mary Mantz, and brothers and sister-in-law Tim and Terri O’Brien and Chuck Clark.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, November 24th, 2023 from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral mass at 11:00 am at Divine Grace Parish, Holy Redeemer Church. Inurnment will be at the Locust Grove Cemetery. Members of the Holy Redeemer Christian Mothers are asked to meet at the church on Friday by 10:50 am to form an honor guard. The funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc..
Memorial contributions in Geri’s name may be made to; Municipal Women’s Club, or Ellwood City Area Public Library.
