Ellwood City Area Municipal Women Hosting Holiday Craft and Vendor Show

Ready to start your Christmas shopping? Or need to add some sparkle to your holiday décor?

Be sure to check out the Ellwood City Area Municipal Women’s Club’s Holiday Craft and Vendor Show this Saturday, November 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Wayne Township Firehall, Rt 65, Ellwood City.

In addition to shopping be sure to grab made to order pizza (red or white), some nachos, and a drink. Oh, and don’t dare forget dessert as they will be serving up Oram’s donuts.

And there will be basket raffles.

Always have a good turnout and repeat crafters and vendors that come back,” said event chair Cheryl Valvano.

Some of those crafts include: Handmade cutting boards, wreaths, florals, pet toys, glass block lights, and so much more. And you can expect to find vendors selling products like Scentsy, Avon, and others.

“All proceeds benefits area communities,” Valvano said.

And if you are interested in getting involved with the Municpal Women’s Club, chat up Cheryl or one of the other women who can tell you all about the positive philanthropy that the ladies are involved in. The club is looking to grow its numbers.

Curious as to what the Municipal Women do? One of the things you have no doubt seen in Ewing Park is the gorgeous gazebo in the grassy area at the intersection of Pershing Street, Sims Street, and Jefferson Avenue and next to the Community Gardens. They built and maintain the Gazebo, pay for the utilities to light it up. Many community members have had prom photos, wedding photos, and even wedding vows at the favorite Ellwood City landmark.

“We love to do it because it brings a lot of joy to people,” Valvano said.

But in addition to the Gazebo, the Municipal Women, one of the last local civic organizations that isn’t a federated club, raises money for civic needs in the community; for local organizations like Club Hope, Meals on Wheels, local fire departments, and the library; and also to support local students with scholarships.

The women meet about seven times a year on the last Monday of the month at 7 p.m. at Christ Presbyterian Church, 325 Spring Ave. The next meeting will be held in January.

“We are looking to rebuild and look toward a charitable future. If you want to be part of an organization that has heart in the community, we are a good fit.”
