Mr. Pasquale (“Patsy”) DiBuono, 89, of 704 Line Avenue, Ellwood City, passed away on Wednesday, Nov, 8, 2023 at his residence surrounded by loved ones.
He was born in Baia e Latina, ltaly on October 7th, 1934 to the late Pompeo and Amalia (Nacca) DiBuono. Having survived through WWll as a child in Europe, he went on to work at the family bar-cafe in his hometown, served as staff in a restaurant in Bern, Switzerland, operated a postal service route delivering mail via Vespa scooter and served in the ltalian Army. During the 1950s while in ltaly, he played soccer as a winger for Baia e Latina’s inaugural club. Pasquale married his wife, Gilda (Offi) DiBuono, on August 11th, 1968 on the same day Pasquale’s brother and best friend, ltalo DiBuono, married and his wife, Vittoria (Formicola) DiBuono during a joint ceremony.
After arriving in the U.S., Pasquale worked for the Knitting Mill and City Trailer. ln the late 1960s, he cofounded the band, Capri, in Ellwood City with his brother, ltalo. Always carrying a guitar pick in his pocket, he played with Capri through 2013 when ltalo passed, but continued performing through 2022. Pasquale was a very easy going and good natured person, entirely devoted to his family. His hobbies included gardening, making wine, playing, coaching and watching soccer, playing bocce and bicycling and scootering. Pasquale was consistently riding a bicycle and scooter throughout his neighborhood well into his 88th year, and, there was never any backyard space for a yard at his residence for anything other than his garden, as the entire yard consisted of vegetable plants, a fig tree and a grape canopy.
Pasquale is survived by his wife, Gilda DiBuono, to whom he was married for 55 years; his son and daughter-in-law, John and Nora (Masterson) DiBuono; his son, Robert J. DiBuono; four grandchildren, Anthony Pasquale DiBuono, Dominic William DiBuono, Christian Pompey DiBuono and Lucas Joseph DiBuono; his sister-in-law, Vittoria DiBuono; two nieces, Emily Morris and Anna Elliot; and, a nephew, Edward DiBuono.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 12th from 5-8 pm at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc.. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, November 13th at 10:00 am at the Divine Grace Parish, Holy Redeemer Church with Father Jim Wehner officiating. Interment will follow at the Locust Grove Cemetery.
