Riverside Panther senior Lexi Fluharty posted a 3rd overall finish in the PIAA Class-A Cross Country individual championships at Parkview XC Course in Hershey, PA on Saturday.
Fluharty, who won the WPIAL Championship last month, finished with an overall time of 19:28 on Saturday. Her time and finish was the best finish by a WPIAL District 7 participant. [VIEW VIDEO]
Joining Fluharty from Riverside on Saturday was fellow senior Brooke Wissinger who finished 88th overall with a time of 22:26. Devin Montelone finished 35th overall (17:35) in the boys Class-A individual championships.
Virginia Krause of Moravian Academy was the top overall female finisher in Class-A with a time of 18:50. Elk Co. Catholic took the girls team championship. [VIEW FULL RESULTS]
For Ellwood City, the boys team finished 7th overall in the PIAAC Class-A Cross Country team championships. The team was led by junior Bradley Custer who finished 23rd overall with a time of 17:45.
Just 11 seconds later junior Drew Steffler came in taking 26th overall.
Seniors Colten Crizer (18:01) and Nick Wise (18:39) posted times in the 18 minute range, coming in 29th and 45th respectively. Rounding out the team was freshman Dante Venezie (18:54) and sophomore Lucas Bleakney (19:06) coming in 58th and 65th respectively. [VIEW FULL RESULTS]
The Wolverines posted a team “score” (Places) of 181 and a total time of 1:31:15 to place 7th overall. The boys finished 3rd overall in the WPIAL Championships last month.
Officially, there were 272 male runners for the Class-A event and 23 scored teams. Annville-Cleona (Distict 3) finished 1st overall as a team in the Class-A Championships with a team score of 91. Junior Jaxon Schoedel from Mohawk finished first overall individually in boys Class-A with a time of 16:09.
