BEAVER COUNTY —Travelers are advised that construction crews will be temporarily closing the eastbound exit at the Beaver Valley Interchange (Exit 13) of the Pennsylvania Turnpike (Interstate 76) this coming weekend.
The exit ramp will be closed, weather permitting, starting at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4, until 9:00 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5. The closure is necessary to allow for the construction of a temporary on and off-ramp so work can continue as part of the ongoing Beaver River Bridge Replacement Project. Make-up dates will be November 11-12, 2023 (same start/end times) in the event of inclement weather.
During the closure, drivers will be advised to exit prior to that point at the New Castle Interchange (Exit 10). Motorists can then use the following detour to get to PA Route 18:
- After taking Exit 10, keep left toward Interstate 376 West (New Castle), then keep right and exit toward PA Route 351
- At the intersection, turn left onto Shenango Road, travel 0.4 miles
- Turn right onto PA Route 351 (Fairlane Boulevard), travel 2.2 miles to PA Route 18 (Big Beaver Boulevard)
Those looking to enter the Turnpike eastbound at Exit 13 can take the following detour:
- Travel PA Route 18 (Big Beaver Boulevard) north 1.3 miles and turn left onto PA Route 351 (Fairlane Boulevard)
- Travel 2.2 miles and turn left onto Shenango Drive
- Travel 0.2 miles and turn right onto exit for I-376/I-76/Pennsylvania Turnpike
Additionally, PennDOT will be closing one lane of PA Route 18 North from one mile north to one mile south of the interchange during the closure period.
The Pennsylvania Turnpike continues to progress through Stage 3 of construction for a multiphase project involving the total reconstruction and widening of two miles (Milepost 12 and Milepost 14) of the Turnpike’s east-west mainline nearest the Exit 13 Beaver Valley (Beaver Falls/Ellwood City) interchange.
Construction is expected to be fully completed in September 2027. Additional updates and pictures can also be found on the PA Turnpike Construction Page link.

i think it really sucks that the weather was so darn nice out that you couldnt get the work done, the ramp was closed even though you stated it would be open on 11/5/2023 at 9 pm, with beautiful weather all weekend, do to your misjudgment as always i was late for work, only because i relied on the truth that you people always miscalculate, sorry but not sorry, get your act together or put someone in charge that know what the hell there doing,
The ramp was still closed on Monday morning, November 6th at 6:45AM. No warning that it was still closed. A lot of people this morning were not happy going into work and had to take the unexpected detour to New Castle. Reopen this ramp.
If you guys think you could do better on a multimillion-dollar project have at it.
