Mr. William R. “Bill” Wiley, 92, of Wayne Township passed away on Tuesday, October 17th, 2023 at Quality of Life, New Castle.
Mr. Wiley was born in Franklin Twp. on November 16th, 1930 to the late Herbert and Mona (Lewis) Wiley. He had attended Lincoln High School. Bill enlisted with the U.S. Army on November 25th, 1952 and served with the Company B 761st Tank Battalion until his discharge on November 24th, 1954 with the rank of Corporal. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Following his service with the Army Bill worked at the Ellwood City Iron & Wire in Ellwood City for twenty five years as a supervisor and later retired from R.A. Davis. He was also the proud owner, operator, and builder of Wiley’s Country Corner in Ellwood City and Shady Grove Restaurant in Butler. Bill attended the First Congregational Church in Beaver Falls. His favorite past times where fishing and tinkering in his garage.
He is survived by his daughter Wendy and her husband John Maldovan of Jessup, Maryland, son John Wiley of Ellwood City, grandchildren Erica Wiley and Bill Wiley, and great-grandchildren Logan and Axel.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rose Marie (Keul) Wiley whom he married on April 29th, 1955 and passed away on June 11th, 2001, sister Virginia Boots, and brothers LaVern Wiley and Larry Wiley.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at 3:00 pm at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. with Rev. R. Tod Custer officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Hope Cemetery. Members of the Veterans Honor Guard are asked to meet at the funeral home on Friday by 2:45 pm to conduct full military honors.
