WEEKLY ROUND-UP: Ellwood City Sports

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL:
After falling to Blackhawk earlier in the week, the Ellwood City Girls Volleyball team rebounded for victory Wednesday.

The victory evens the Wolverines early season record at 1-1.

On Tuesday, Ellwood City exchanged set victories with the Bridgers and gained the match with a 15-13 5th set victory. The Wolverines won set 1 (25-12) and set 3 (25-17). On Monday, the girls battled back from an early two set deficit against Blackhawk but fell 3-2 in the season opening match. After falling 25-18 and 27-25, the Wolverines rallied for victories in the third (25-22) and fourth (25-17) sets before falling 18-16 in the final set.

The girls next match-up is its crosstown Riv-Ell game at Riverside on Tuesday at 7:30 PM @ Riverside.

ELLWOOD CITY GOLF:
The Ellwood City Golf team went low on Thursday, firing a team round of 186 to easily dispatch Union Area Delmar Golf Course. The victory improves the Wolverines recrod to 6-2 on the season.  Jordan Keller fired a 3-under round of 33 while Jaxon Rozanski joined him under par with a round of 35. Mitch Covert scratched out an even round of 36 for the Wolverines.

The team collected a 197-232 victory over Laurel on Tuesday at Green Meadows. Keller led the charge once again with a solid 37 while Rozanski fired a sub-40 round of 39 for the Wolverines. Eli Bintrim (Laurel) posted a match low round of 33 in a losing effort for the Spartan. On Monday, the Wolverines fell at Neshannock 196-209. Mitch Covert fired a team low round of 37 for Ellwood City while Keller finished with a round of 38 in defeat. Neshannock had three golfers finish with sub-40 rounds to help the Lancers pick up the home victory.

The next match for the Ellwood City golf team is next Wednesday @ Mohawk (Stonecrest) 2:30 PM

ELLWOOD CITY SOCCER:
Ellwood City is now 0-1-0 (0-1-0) on its young season after suffering an 11-0 defeat at the hands of Mohawk on Tuesday.

ELLWOOD CITY GIRLS TENNIS:
Ellwood City is now 1-2 (0-2) on the season after suffering two defeats this week. The Wolverines fell at the hands of Blackhawk and Beaver this week. The next match for the girls tennis team is 9/05 3:30 PM vs. Sewickley Academy
