Mr. Peter P. Pavlovic, 85, of Ellwood City passed away on August 24th, 2023 at the UPMC Montefiore Hospital.
Peter was born on September 1st, 1937 to the late Milan and Dorothy (Dugan) Pavlovic. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1955. A prize winning photographer, Peter was the head photographer from the News Tribune in Beaver Falls, along with side work for various other local newspapers. He photographed crime scenes, fires, seven presidents, Dr. Marin Luther King Jr., Woodstock, Pittsburgh sport teams, and much more. A few of his photos were eventually published in LIFE Magazine. His family remembers listening to the scanner and chasing fires with him, he was often the first one of the scene. He was a member of Divine Grace Parish-Holy Redeemer Church, the Italian Mutual Benefits Society, Koppel Volunteer Fire Department, Ellwood City Eagles, Elks, and Moose Club, and also at the Ellwood City Son’s of Italy Lodge #608. In his younger years, Peter had his own published newspaper called the Koppel Bugle. After retiring from photography, Peter operated his family’s grocery store in Koppel, Pavlovic’s Market. He will be remembered as being a giver who enjoyed socializing everywhere he went. He enjoyed going to the Racetrack and various Casinos in the area. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his daughter, Deborah Reichart of St. Petersburg, FL, sons, Robert (Joan) Pavlovic of Pittsburgh and Andy (Sherrie) Pavlovic of The Villages, FL, sisters, Anna Muoio of Koppel, Nancy Smith of Koppel, Judy (Bob) Tammaro of Ellwood City and Linda (Bob) Cistolo of Berea, OH, grandchildren, Laura (Mark) Johnson, Matthew (Meghan) Reichart, and Rachel and Lauren Pavlovic, step-grandchildren, Carla (Robert) Dragich, Tara (Eric) Tryan, and Josh O’Neill, several great-grandchildren, brother-in-law, Lou Makar of Cleveland and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Norma Makar, and brother-in-law, Eugene Muoio.
Family and Friends may be received in the back of Divine Grace Parish, Holy Redeemer Church on Wednesday, August 30th, from 10:00 am until 10:50 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am with Father James Wehner officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc..
