Perry William Phillippi, 89, a lifelong resident of Ellwood City passed away Saturday, August 19, 2023 at his residence.
Born in Ellwood City on March 24, 1934, he was the son of the late William Perry and Minnie Belle Snyder Phillippi. Perry attended Lincoln High School. He had worked 43 years for the Geo. W. Blank Company as a truck driver. Perry formerly attended Christ Presbyterian Church, and most recently listened to church on Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church’s Facebook service.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 68 years as they were married on August 28, 1954, Betty Louise Alderman Phillippi; two daughters, Dorothy (Glenn) D’Amico and Susan Malcolm both of Ellwood City. In addition, “Pap” will be missed by his six grandchildren-Matt (Melissa) D’Amico, Jess (Cris) Schiavoni, Perry (Giovanna) Malcolm, Mark (Rachel) D’Amico, Tori (Scott) Kincaid, and G.W. (Pam) Malcolm; twenty-two great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. A brother, Sam Phillippi of Ellwood City, sister-in-law Helen Phillippi, brothers and sisters-in-law Robert and Marge Varner, and Robert and Betty Alderman also survive. Perry is also survived by an abundance of beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters; Anna (Ralph) Wimer, Mary (Claire) French, Pearl (Herm) Stafford, Carrie (Cliff) Emrick, and Marie (John)Tindall, his three brothers and a sister-in-law, Ferling (Beatrice), Calvin, and Chuck Phillippi, and granddaughter Amy Lynn D’Amico.
Besides spending time with his family, Perry loved to camp, read Western books, and play guitar. He was self-taught starting at the age of 12 and taught several people to play, started jam sessions while wintering in Florida, and played at nursing homes. Perry was also very proud serving as a volunteer for The Carpenter’s Project.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
