The Ellwood City Wolves Club Den II met on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at their shelter in Ewing Park. Each year the Wolves Club hosts an appreciation dinner for their members, their wives and significant others who have volunteered at their three fundraisers during the year. Sixty four members attended the steak dinner prepared by their members Bob Delisio, Matt Wally and Chuck Houk.
President Mike DeOtto introduced two guests to the Club: Divine Grace Parish Seminarians Erik Pintar and Chris Baker. Secretary John Biondi gave their backgrounds and reminded the members that they are assigned to Divine Grace Parish along with a new Parochial Vicar, Father Joe Freedy. Seminarian Erik, a Wisconsin native and Carnegie Mellon grad, is at Holy Redeemer Church. Seminarian Chris, a New Castle native and University of Pittsburgh grad, is at St Ferdinand Church. Both are visible at the Divine Grace Social Services Food Bank.
Although not a business meeting two reports were provided. Vice President Dennis Boariu reported that the food booth at the Ellwood City Arts & Crafts Festival was a success and will support their scholarship program. He thanksed all the members who helped. It was noted that excess buns were provide to McGuire Home by member Herman Petti. Excess fish was provided to the Divine Grace Social Services Food Bank by Dennis Boariu and Bob Petti. Social Services Co-Director Cathy DeBlaso thanked them and noted that 100 families received the fish.
Vice President Dennis Boariu reported on the upcoming Oktoberfest on October 7, 2023. Members are needed on Monday October 2 to make haluski as well as on October 7 to serve food from 12pm-5pm.
The Ellwood City Wolves Club meets the second and fourth Wednesday of the month. The Club motto is “Pro Bono Publico”-meaning for the good of the public. New members are always welcome: see Mike DeOtto or Dennis Boariu if interested in joining the Wolves Club.
