Mary A. Truby, 89

Mrs. Mary A. Truby, 89, of Franklin Twp., Ellwood City, Pennsylvania joined her husband Charles A. Truby in Heaven on Tuesday, April 11th, 2023.

Mary was born to the late Frank and Martha C. (Milnes) Sobczak in Ellwood City on September 29th, 1933.

Mary enjoyed traveling. She traveled many times throughout the United States to visit family. Even as she became older, she thought nothing of it to board a Greyhound bus to visit loved ones. She was an avid reader and could finish most books within a few hours. Throughout the years she had crocheted many blankets for children and grandchildren which many of us still have. She enjoyed the old shows like Perry Mason and was a fan of Jeopardy. She loved her grandchildren/great-grandchildren & great-great-grandchildren who all were a blessing to her. She was very involved in their lives throughout the years.

While raising her children, she worked at Leeds & Northrup. She later was employed by McGuire Memorial Homes and loved caring for the children there. Mary also briefly worked as a bus driver for Hessler’s.

She is survived by her children and their spouses Rose (Coy) Bailey of Belen, New Mexico, Cassandra (Jim) Epstein of Riverview, Florida, Fred Sparling (Dot Broge) of Jamestown, PA, and Lara (Brian) Ott of Ellwood City, PA, daughter-in-law Rhonda Sparling of McClean, Texas, grandchildren, Leroy and Jason Hoak, Jada, Celeste, Michael, Jovannah, and Chanelle Bailey, Donald, Daniel and Charles Harris, Angel Munson, Frank, Logan and Christopher Sparling, Scott Broge, Samantha Carrillo, Vanessa Pollio, Nicholas Ott, and Eliza and Krysta Svihra, 31 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her wonderful friend Nira Main.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles A. Truby in 1988, son Frank W. Sparling in April of 2021, sisters Rose Marie (James) Lutz, Frances Eileen (Ray) Clyde, and Martha E. Sobczak, and great-grandchild Blair Vigil in 2021.

Mrs. Truby’s family would like to thank her wonderful caregivers: Karen, Marylou, Aletha, Jeanette, Norma, Maggie and Sierra.

A private visitation and service for Mary was held at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. with Rev. Matthew Bupp officiating. Interment was at the Oak Park Cemetery in New Castle.
