Mary Ellen Pumphrey, 81, of New Castle went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 12, 2023.
Born September 1, 1941 in Clearfield, PA, she was the daughter of the late Raymond LeRoy and Bessie Aretta Bish Young. She was married to Jackie L. Pumphrey for 53 years when he passed away in 2014.
Mary attended the Maitland Lane Free Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with family and attending family outings. Some of her interests were listening to country and gospel music, doing crafts, and tending her flowers.
Survivors include two sons, Jackie (Darlene) Pumphrey Jr. and Jeffrey Pumphrey Sr. both of New Castle; four daughters, Judith Grim of New Castle, Debbie (Jeff) Suchyta of Lafayette, GA, Cynthia Steele of Midland, and Brenda (Ron) Estermyer of Chickamauga, GA; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Carole) Young of Indiana; sister-in-law, Margaret Young of Industry, PA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband Jackie, she was preceded in death by son-in-law Merle James (Bubb) Grim; two brothers, Donald Sr. and Richard Sr. and his wife (Sue) Young; three sisters, Shirley and Imagene Young, and Sandra Sheets.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Maitland Lane Free Methodist on April 19, 2023 at 1:00 pm with Pastor John Fraser officiating and will be followed by a Celebration Dinner at the Church Fellowship Hall.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Marshall Funeral Home, Wampum.
