Raymond A. Venezie, 74

Raymond Andrew Venezie, 74, of San Antonio, TX, formerly of Ellwood City, PA passed away on March 21, 2023 following a brief illness.

Born on August 5, 1948 in Ellwood City Ray was the son of the late Pasquale A. “Pat” and Ann (Galati) Venezie. Ray, a proud veteran of the United States Army, faithfully served his nation for 20 years as a combat engineer and non-commissioned officer club manager. Throughout his career, he supported global military operations in countries covering four different continents. He initially served two tours of duty in Vietnam from 1969-1971 where he earned a Bronze Star with Valor designated for heroism and a Purple Heart Medal for wounds sustained during combat operations.

Ray is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Linda Venezie of Frederick, MD, his son, Andrew Venezie of Austin, TX, and his grandsons, Morgan, Micah, Matthew, and Myles. He is also survived by his sisters, Carol Ilott of Bradenton, FL, Patricia “Pat” (Jimi) Prettyman of Syracuse, NY, and his brother, Dr. Ronald (Michele) Venezie, of Cary, NC. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and cousin to so many and an accomplished world traveler that enjoyed his many adventures to faraway places, but none more so than his beloved familial homeland of Italy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Venezie.

Friends will be received on Saturday, April 29th from 1:00 PM to the time of the Blessing Service at 3:00 PM at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport.

Interment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be sent to the Ann Venezie Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of WesBanco, 612 Lawrence Ave, Ellwood City, PA 16117, or to a Vietnam veteran’s charity of the donor’s choice. The following charities are provided as a suggestion.
