Royann Winfield, 62

Royann Winfield, 62, of Ellport passed away Monday, January 9, 2023 at her residence following a 3 1/2 year courageous battle with cancer. Royann faced her battle with cancer with strength, courage, and a positive attitude that was an example to all.

Born August 5, 1960 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Dolores Geary Winfield.

Royann graduated from Riverside in 1978 and Slippery Rock University in 1983. In her youth, she attended Lillyville Church of God. She worked at McGuire Memorial Home for the past 20 years. Royann coached track at Riverside High School for 40 years, 32 as the head coach and she never had a losing season. She retired from coaching in September of 2022. She coached many athletes who competed in WPIAL Championships and Pa State Finals. She loved coaching at Riverside and mentoring student athletes to reach their potential not only in athletics but in life. Royann enjoyed golfing, trips to the beach, traveling, and pontoon boat rides at Moraine. She was an avid Penguin fan.

Survivors include brother, Charles Winfield of California; three nieces, a nephew; her best friend, Lori Shay; her pups, Sadie and Cinders, and many close friends.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday January 12, 2023 from 3 pm until the time of the funeral service at 6 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, Inc. 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Pastor Dennis Arndt will officiate. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery.
