PART 2: Boys Winter Sports Q&A – Lincoln High School and Riverside High School

Winter sports have arrived in Ellwood City.

Basketball and swimming are among the most popular sports among the boys for students at both Lincoln High School and Riverside High School. We are doing our Winter Q&A a little different this year and shaking it up with Boys vs. Girls Sports.

We caught up with the athletes of those teams to see what they are doing to prepare for the upcoming rivalries, to offer some perspective on the season ahead and their plans for the future.

This is part two of a two-part series featuring area senior student winter sports. Our Girls Winter Sports Q&A featuring both Lincoln High School and Riverside High School was published yesterday.

How many years have you have been swimming? I have been swimming for the past thirteen years.

What do you feel is your biggest strength? My biggest strength would be my ability to pull through when needed. If my coach needs me to fill in and win an event, I do my best to do just that.

What is your favorite part of it? My favorite part would have to be the people I have met along the way. Throughout my thirteen years, I have met so many different people and have become very close friends with many of them.

Who do you feel is your biggest rivalry this upcoming season? I would have to say our biggest rival is Blackhawk. Many of us swim for our local club, which is a combination of Riverside, Ellwood, and Blackhawk swimmers. We are all very competitive and although we are all great friends, we love to compete against each other.

What has your favorite memory been over the years? My favorite memory is without a doubt winning our state championship in 2021. That was the most electric race I have ever been able to compete in and to be able to win it was truly a blessing.

What are your future plans after graduation? Will you continue to play sports after high school? I plan to attend a four-year college. I’ve been blessed to be a part of my swim team, but I think going forward, my path will take me in other directions.
