Edward H. Coates, 69

Edward H. Coates, 69, of North Sewickley Township passed away Sunday, December 4, 2022 at Heritage Valley Beaver following a lengthy illness.

Born June 14, 1953 in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Jack Coates and Grace Noah Coates Armstrong. He was married to Pamela McKinney Coates.

Ed had graduated from Riverside High school in 1971. After graduation, he worked for Penna Flame for 30 years as a Flame Hardener and for T&M Hardware for 6. He was a member of the Wurtemburg Presbyterian Church. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed going to his camp in Strattanville and fishing. Ed was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins. His most cherished moments were spent with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years Pamela; two daughters, Jennifer (Lou) Coates Miller of Sarver, PA, and Denise Coates of North Sewickley; sister, Valerie Kamrud of Beaver Falls; five grandchildren, Payton and Eleana Thumm, Abigail Brousseau, Hadley Nicol, and Taylor Pavick; great grandson DJ and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four brothers; Jerry, Greg, Dennis, and Jack Coates; his future son in law; Michael Nicol, and his in-laws Rose and Norman McKinney.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday December 11, 2022 from 3:00 pm until the Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 5:00 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Rev. Rob Guy will officiate.

    I’m so sorry for the pain you are all feeling! Ed was the best. I’ll never forget his laugh or the way I could hear him at 5am, telling the love of his life “ have a good day, love you”! We love you all!
