Mr. George R. Garda, 79, formerly of Ellwood City and presently of Mars, Pa passed away on Monday, November, 28th, 2022.
Mr. Garda was born in Ellwood City on July 27th, 1943 son of the late George and Flora (Paglia) Garda. He is a member of the Lincoln High School Class of 1961 and had played center on the football team. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Slippery Rock State College in 1966 where he also played center on the football team, and a Master’s Degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1970. He had taught at the North Hills School District, and served as a counselor at Greece Central School in Rochester, NY. In 1972 George was hired by the Ellwood City Area School District as elementary guidance counselor. George then became the elementary assistant principle and later principle. He also had earned his Superintendent Certification. Following his retirement George served on the Ellwood City Area School Board for 1 term.
He is survived by his wife Renee Sulia whom he married on February 23rd, 2008, daughter Lisa (Mark) Palaski of Seven Fields, grandchildren Michael, Carolyn, Joseph Palaski, Renee’s children Tonya Sulia Goodman of Mars and Ryan (Andrea) Sulia of Hampton, Pa, grandchildren Gianna, Gino, and Carmella Goodman, Eva, and Sofia Sulia, sister-in-law Nancy Garda of New Castle, nieces Julie (Michael) Cavalier of Ellwood City and Jennifer (Richard) Moore of Queens, NY.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister in infancy, and brother William B. Garda.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, December 5th, 2022 from 3:00 pm until the time of the service at 6:00 pm at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Peggy Suhr-Barkley. Interment will be at the Locust Grove Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc..
