Mrs. Kathleen A. Szakelyhidi, 72, of Franklin Township passed away on Tuesday, November 8th, 2022 at the Heritage Valley Medical Center in Beaver.
Kathleen was born on June 23rd, 1950 in New Castle to the late Clyde E. and Ethel (McKinney) Miller. She graduated from Riverside High School with the class of 1968, and from the Butler County Community College where she studied nursing. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for various hospitals and nursing homes in the area, including, Providence in Beaver Falls, Evergreen Nursing Home, Jamison Care Center, Hillview Manor, and the Ellwood City Hospital, from where she retired. She was a a member of the Lillyville Church of God. Kathleen enjoyed going to gospel concerts, taking care of people and camping.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis “Denny” Szakelyhidi whom she married on May 6th, 1972, daughter Karen Szakelyhidi of Franklin Township, son Kevin (Shelby) Szakelyhidi of Bellevue, grandchildren Vegas and Memphis Szakelyhidi of Bellevue, and her best friend Kathy Hogue.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sisters Bertha Bartolomeo and Anna “Peggy” Wright.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 11th, 2022 from 1:00 pm until the time of service at 3:00 pm at the Lillyville Church of God with Rev. Dennis Arndt officiating. Interment will follow at the Lillyville Church of God Cemetery.
Memorial donations in Kathleen’s name may be made to the Lillyville Church of God, 408 Hickernell Rd., Ellwood City, PA 16117.
