Lincoln High School Senior Aliya Garroway verbally committed to Saint Francis University of the NEC last Thursday.
She will sign her National Letter of Intent on Wednesday, November 9th at Lincoln High School.
SFU, located in Loretto Pa, is coached by Jessica O’Donnell. The team has won 5 consecutive NEC titles and participated in the NCAA tournament over that same span. The University is a tremendous academic institution and is also one of the top 50 Division 1 softball programs in the country.
Garroway started her softball career at six years old with the Bellissimo’s Magic/EC Fastpitch Youth Development program. She played 10u and 12u travel ball for The Silver Creek Starz and Ellwood City Fastpitch respectively. She has played for the Ohio Outlaws travel organization since 14u.
At the high school level, she has been a starter since her freshman season. After losing all but seven innings of her Freshman campaign to the Covid 19 pandemic, she returned as a Sophomore to help lead the team to the WPIAL Championship Game and a berth in the PIAA State Tourney. Following the season, she was named as a First Team All Section Third Baseman as well as to the All Lawrence and Beaver County All Star Teams. As a Junior, she helped lead the Lady Wolverines to their 7th consecutive WPIAL playoff appearance as they made it to the quarterfinals. She earned First Team All Section Honors, this time as a Catcher. Once again, she was named to the All Beaver and Lawrence County All Star Teams.
Academically, she maintains a 4.1 GPA while taking High Honors Courses and is ranked in the top 5 of the 2023 class.
Aliya is the daughter of Bill and Nicole Garroway and also has an older sister Ariana.
