PHOTOS: Panthers Shutout Wolverines

Four Panthers scored to propel Riverside to a 28-0 road victory over the Wolverines Friday night during the Ellwood City Senior Night.

After a scoreless first frame, backers Robert Janis and Noah George collected touchdown runs in the second quarter to help the visiting Panthers to an early 14-0 lead.

In the third quarter Riverside quarterback Samuel Hughes found Ayden Garcia on a 10-yard touchdown pass and Hughes capped off the scoring in the fourth quarter with a 10 yard touchdown scamper.

Hughes finished the game with 228 yards passing (14-25, 1 TD) finding rhythm with received Brady Newman who lead the Panthers with 110 yards receiving on four catches. Janis finished with 77 yards on the ground to lead the Panthers.

Ellwood City struggled on offense throughout the night, finishing with only 68 net yards of offense, and turning the ball over three times in the defeat.

Riverside, who clinched a playoff berth last week, finishes their regular season 5-4 and will await the unveiling of the Class-2A playoff bracket while the Wolverines finish to 2-8 overall on its 2022 campaign.
