Rain and torrential downpours on Saturday afternoon did not damper the mood in Ewing Park as nearly 700 people braved the elements to enjoy the Ellwood City Oktoberfest. The 12th annual event squeaked out a few reasonably accommodating hours between the waves of rain that entered the Saturday afternoon forecast.
The event helps raise funds for scholarships and community improvements and is hosted by the Ellwood City Lions Club, Ellwood City Rotary Club and the Ellwood City Wolves Club Den II.
Those attending could sample home made beer and over 100 style craft beers.
Snacks included Pepperoni puffs, Pulled Pork, Fish, Meatball, Sausage Kielbasa and Sauerkraut, hot dogs and haluska that were provided to those at the Oktoberfest.
