Ann Keul Johnson, 87

Ann Keul Johnson, 87, of Harrisburg and formerly of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2022 at UPMC Pinnacle Hospital, Harrisburg, PA. She was the daughter of the late Alfred P. and Mildred (McCandless) Hamilton and was born April 23, 1935, in Philadelphia.

She is survived by her daughter; Elaine Geisel of North Sewickley, sons; Stephen Keul and his wife Adele of Dillsburg, PA, Kurt Keul and his wife Tina of Mechanicsburg; grandchildren: Joshua Keul and his wife Alyssa of New Jersey, Kate Dillon of North Sewickley, Stephanie Thate and her husband Jimmy of Virginia, Abigail Keul of Mechanicsburg, PA, Maggie Ford and her husband Roy of Hatfield, PA, Megan King and her husband Jesse of Mechanicsburg, PA, Jared Keul and his wife Gabrielle of Shiremanstown, PA, and 5 great-grandchildren; Amelia and Adelyn; Liam and Luca; and Naomi.

She was a graduate of Geneva College where she earned her Bachelor’s in Education. She met the love of her life, Albert Keul while attending college and they were married 54 years, until his death in 2011.They were longtime and active members of Providence Baptist, where she served as deaconess. She was an avid reader who loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. After Albert passed, Ann moved to the Passavant Retirement Community in Zelienople where she met and married Ray Johnson and started a new phase of life. Together they enjoyed traveling, being involved in community activities, and spending time with her three children and Ray’s children David Johnson and his wife Barbara, Kathy Johnston and her husband John, and the grandchildren. They loved celebrating family graduations, weddings, and the births of great-grandchildren. Most recently, Ann had been in the care of Arden Courts Harrisburg, and Homeland Center also in Harrisburg, where the nurses and staff took tremendous care of her.

She was preceded in death by her first husband; Albert S. Keul, son-in-law; Kenneth Geisel, Jr; one brother; Donald Hamilton, and her second husband Ray Johnson.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Friday, September 30, 2022 and Saturday, October 1, 2022 from 10:00am–11:00 am at Turner Funeral Home-Ellwood City, with the funeral service following at 11:00am at Turner’s, with Pastor Jim Garber, officiating.

Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery.
