Richard L. Simmons, 82, of Ellwood City passed away, Sunday August 7, 2022, at Carriage Manor in New Castle. He was the son of the late Walter and Esther (Schramm) Simmons and was born October 13, 1939, in Marion Twp.
He was a 1956 graduate of Zelienople High School and met and married his late wife, Alice, in 1965. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates fan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and most of all, being outdoors, every chance he got. He was employed ATL Trucking, retiring in 2004. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play baseball and coached their teams, as well. Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all know who knew him.
He is survived by his daughters; Julie Simmons and her husband Joe Grzelka of Ellwood City, Deborah Simmons of Ellwood City, grandchildren; Jason Wright of Big Beaver Twp, Angela Smith and Joe Gradwell of Beaver, Elizabeth Santillo and her husband Christopher of Ellwood City, Josh Simmons of New Castle, Elijah Simmons of Ellwood City, Zoe-enna Simmons of Aliquippa, great-granchildren; Ethan Simmons, Brooke and Maci Lee Santillo, Zaelynn Quel, Ava Quel, one brother; Robert Simmons of Clearwater,FL, one sister; Nancy Dishler and her husband Dave of Rochester.
He is preceded in death by his son; Kevin Simmons and one grandson; Jeffrey Simmons, two sisters; Phyllis Pander and her husband Pander, Margaret Cron and her husband Toot.
Friends may call on the family on Thursday, August 11, 2022, from 1:00pm-2:00pm with a Funeral Service following at 2:00pm with Pastor Jeff MacKay, Officiating at Turner Funeral Home located at 6th and Park in Ellwood City.
Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery.
