Winifred D. Walker, 96

Winifred D. Walker, 96, of Ellwood City and formally of North Sewickley Twp passed away peacefully at Northview Estates, on June 19, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Wilber H. And Winifred (Greene) Dexter and she was born October 10, 1925, in Athol, MA.

She is survived by her son; Jeffrey R. Walker and his wife Denise of Springtown, TX, daughters; Susan Taylor of Franklin Twp, Vicki Kirksey and her husband James of Palm Coast, FL. grandchildren; Casey Taylor and his wife Amy of North Sewickley Twp, Ashley Rinehart and her fiancé Justin Conner of Ellwood City, Joshua Kirksey and his wife Tannah of Flagler Beach, FL, great-grandchildren; Grady Rinehart, Cooper and Parker Taylor, and Samantha, LJ, and Harrison Kirksey.

She was a 1943 graduate of Beaver High School and also a graduate of Garfield Business School. She met and married her husband H. Robert Walker in 1950. She was a retired secretary of Riverside School District. She was a life long member of North Sewickley Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon and was a member of the Women’s Association. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and the Suburban Women’s Club. She loved to travel with her family and after her husband retired they would travel and they wintered in Eustis, FL. She liked to bowl, play shuffleboard, work crossword puzzles, she enjoyed knitting and was an avid reader. She also loved to watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.

She is preceded in death by her husband, of 46 years. H. Robert Walker, and her siblings; Clifton Dexter, Gordon Dexter, and Mary Bagnell and her stepmother; Romaine Mackall Dexter.

Friends may call on the family from 6:00pm-7:00pm on June 23, 2022 at Turner Funeral Home, with Funeral Services following at 7:00pm.

Interment will be in North Sewickley Cemetery, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial donations be made, in Winifred’s name, to the Ellwood City Library or the North Sewickley Cemetery.

The family would like to thank all of employees at Northview Estates, especially Audrey, Emily and Marci and also AHN Hospice, especially Mike and Jocelyn and a close family friend, Denise Broadwater.

Arrangements entrusted to the TURNER FUNERAL HOME located at 6th and Park in Ellwood City.
