Ellwood City Area Public Library Hosting Tea Party Fundraiser

If you’ve ever wanted to attend an authentic tea party, you will have your chance.

On Saturday, June 25, the board of the Ellwood City Area Public Library and fundraising committee will be hosting the tea party fundraiser from 1 to 3 p.m. at Calvin Presbyterian Church.

In addition to lovely and flavorful teas, there will be delicious finger sandwiches—including the classic tea party stunner cucumber, delectable deserts, and can’t resist cookies.

There will also be basket raffles and a hat contest.

“Hats aren’t required, but we encourage them,” said board member and event organizer Phyllis Conway. “People do wear fancy hats. And we are expecting to have at least 16 baskets to raffle”

Conway recalls the library’s first tea party just before Covid in 2019, and said the event was enjoyable and memorable. She is hoping to recapture that interest.

“It was a really cool event,” she said. “We are trying to get back in the swing of fundraising.”

According to Conway, each table has a theme, and the tables are decorated by the library board members. Each table accommodates eight people and group attendance is encouraged.

Conway said the idea for the tea party came about after some board members attended a similar type of event in Zelienople. She said the group enjoyed the event and felt it would a unique fundraising opportunity in Ellwood City.

She said everything is served to the attendees at the table so they can enjoy a relaxing afternoon.

Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased by calling the library at 724-758-6458.

“Be sure to get your tickets now, as they sell out fast,” Conway said. “It is certain to be a nice afternoon.”
